In January 1972 director Sydney Pollack filmed Aretha Franklin with her choir at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, as she recorded the best-selling gospel of all time, Amazing Grace. Due to legal disputes the footage lay unseen for nearly 50 years. This documentary finally lets us witness some of the most electric, and transcendent, live performances ever committed to celluloid.
