Small Talk

Directed by Hui-Chen Huang
Taiwan, China2016

Trying desperately to break the painful silence between her homosexual mother and herself, the director set up the cameras and used them as a weapon to force conversations. This is a deep dive into a personal mother-daughter relationship. It also acts as a small cutting point to show the audience how the attitudes towards the LGBTQ+ community in Taiwan changed through time and how a patriarchy society can bring hurt to an individual.
