Docs Ireland is honoured to collaborate with DocPoint on a curated focus on Irish creative documentary at the DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival, which will take place from January 30th to February 4th 2024. 

The focus will screen the following Irish films, along with additional events and industry opportunities:

Filmmakers Dennis Harvey, Jennifer Healy, Cara Holmes and Sinead O’Shea will be in attendance to present their work, as well as Docs Ireland’s Head of Industry Roisín Geraghty and Programmer Stuart Sloan, the latter participating in the National Competition jury at the festival.

Renowned filmmaker and film scholar Mark Cousins will be present for a Documentary Masterclass, moderated by DocPoint’s Head of Programming, Inka Achté. A selection of his films will also screen at the festival, including:

This celebration of Irish non-fiction cinema at DocPoint Helsinki will foster creative collaborations & encourage co-productions between Finnish & Irish filmmakers, as well as strengthening the relationship between the festivals, and promoting Irish creative documentary to the Nordic region.

DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival is one of the largest documentary festivals in the Nordic countries and the only festival solely dedicated to documentary films in Finland. It is part of the DocPoint Film Events Association, a not-for-profit organisation that strives to promote creative documentary film and culture in Finland, creating dialogue between international professionals and audiences. 

DocPoint – Helsinki Documentary Film Festival 2024 will bring more than a hundred of the best and most talked-about creative documentary films from all over the world and Finland to the screens of Helsinki, Finland and online. DocPoint Tallinn is taking place at the same time in Tallinn, Estonia. DocPoint wishes to generate ideas, to bring about discussions, and to create communality.
